College of Engineering, Poonjar is established by the Institute of Human Resources Development (IHRD), A Government of Kerala Undertaking. IHRD is a pioneer educational organization supported by Kerala Government, which has the magnificent track record of facilitating quality technical education in the state, especially in the fields of Electronics and Computer Science. The College is affiliated to the prestigious Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), government owned autonomous university and APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (2015 Admission onwards).
The aim of the college is to provide education and training of consistently high standards through innovative and versatile programmers that are responsible to the current and emerging needs of the community, to ensure that the aim of education is realized not only in the acquisition of new knowledge and skills, but also in the attainment of wisdom and judgment indispensable to their proper application and to provide leadership and support in ensuring lifelong learning, which promotes the total development of the individual and society in which the person functions.
The institute offers four year B.Tech Degree courses in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering and Information Technology. Each branch has an annual intake of 60 students. The admission is based on the merit list in the ‘Kerala State Common Entrance Test (CET).
