KVM College of Pharmacy, Cherthala

KVM College of Pharmacy, Alappuzha was established in 2010. The college is approved by Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) New Delhi and affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences (KUHS). KVM College of Pharmacy aspire to establish a system of quality assurance which would on a continuous basis evaluate and monitor the quality of education and training imparted at the institute, improve the teaching-learning process and ultimately, develop the institute as a centre of excellence.

The vision of the institute is to be a college par excellence in pharmacy education and mould future pharmacists to optimize health of all members of society through the promotion of safe, effective and rational medicine use, patient counseling and monitoring of disease management through pharmaceutical care. The mission of the institute is to provide quality pharmacy education to have everlasting impact on quality of health care offered to the society and to satisfy the needs of today and tomorrow for continuous professional development.

Eligibility Criteria
B. Pharm
For admission to B. Pharm. Course, candidates who have passed Higher Secondary Examination, Kerala or examinations recognized as equivalent thereto, with 50% marks in Biology/ Mathematics/Biotechnology/Computer Science separately and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology /Mathematics /Biotechnology/ Computer Science put together are eligible. Candidates from National Open School are not eligible to apply for the course.

B. Pharm. (Lateral Entry)
Diploma in Pharmacy [Candidate shall have studied in an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India and shall have passed the diploma examination conducted by the State Board of D Pharm. Examinations or equivalent and must have a minimum of 50% marks for the second year D Pharm. examination]. (For OEC candidates, 5% relaxation in marks is allowed and for SC/ST candidates a pass in the qualifying examination will be sufficient).

D. Pharm
The course of study for D. Pharm. shall extend over a period of two academic years with each academic year spread over a period of not less than 180 working days in addition to 500 hours practical training spread over a period of not less than three months.

Pharm. D
A pass in any of the following examinations – (1) 10+2 examination with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with one of the following subjects: Mathematics or Biology with a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate for optional subjects. (2) A pass in D. Pharm. course with a minimum of 50% marks from an institution approved by the Pharmacy Council of India under section 12 of the Pharmacy Act. (3) Any other qualification approved by the Pharmacy Council of India as equivalent to any of the above examinations. Provided that a student should complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of the year of admission to the course.
