Government Medical College (GMC), located at Manjeri, Malappuram was established in 2013. It is approved by MCI and is affiliated to KUHS University. It is the sixth government medical college in the state.

GMCM is situated in the heart of the city of Manjeri, Malappuram. The nearest airport is Calicut & it is 22 km away from Manjeri and the nearest major railway station is Kozhikode (46km). It was allotted for Malappuram district in revised 2011 state budget by KM Mani on 08th-July-2011.the medical college will have 500 beds and 12 operation theatres.

The first medical college in the government sector in the state in 31 years, is a fulfillment of a long-cherished dream of the largest populated district in the state. GMCM central library is set up to meet the academic and research information needs of the library users by providing relevant resources and guiding them in acquiring the required information especially in the respective fields of biomedical education and research. The main objective of the library to support and facilitate learning, teaching and administrative activities of the GMCM by organizing, maintaining and providing access to appropriate literature and information resources in such a way as to provide optimum benefit for library users.
