Amala Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), located at Thrissur, Kerala was established in 2003. It is approved by MCI and is affiliated to KUHS University. It is a Christian minority institution established and administered by the Devamatha Province of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), an indigenous religious congregation founded in 1831.
The hospital complex is situated on the slopes of the Vilangan Hills, spreading over a 40-acre campus.
AIMS traces its origin to Amala Cancer Hospital which was started in 1978. AIMS brings together a dedicated team of physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals to provide the highest standards of medical treatment. The full range of primary and specialty care medical services enables cross-specialty consultation, which assures outstanding treatment for each patient.
The vision of the AIMS is to be a foremost teaching hospital known for its excellence in holistic healthcare, quality education and research. There are 100 seats for MBBS course. PG Courses started in 2011. There are 36 seats for broad specialties. Superspeciality PG courses were started in 2013 with two seats in DM Cardiology and one seat in M.Ch. Neurosurgery. Value added education programmes for students are conducted regularly with a view to make them forward looking, dedicated, knowledgeable, caring, compassionate and service-minded doctors.
