The SCMS School of Engineering & Technology (SSET), promoted by the SCMS Group of Educational Institutions, has been in the forefront of providing quality professional education in Engineering & Technology since 2001.. SSET is one among the first ten colleges to be set up in the State under the private self-financing scheme. The college is approved by AICTE and affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University. SCMS School of Engineering & Technology (SSET) is the first engineering college in the self-finance scheme to offer basic branches like Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering right from the first year of establishment of the institution. Over the years it has added more courses in Electronics and Communication, Computer Science, Automobile Engineering at the B.Tech level and MCA and M.Tech at the post graduate level.

SSET has a total capacity of 120 students in each branch of B.Tech course except Automobile Engineering. With a total sanctioned intake capacity of, 660 students in six branches of B.Tech, 120 students in six branches of M.Tech and 60 students for MCA, SSET is the second largest engineering college set up under the self financing scheme in Kerala.

The admission process to the B.Tech program is transparent to the core and merit is the only criteria for admission to any of the program offered at SSET. Students are ranked based on their performance in the 12th grade examination and the entrance examination conducted by the State Entrance Commissioner. Weight age is given to marks scored in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry for the 12th grade and also for the Entrance Examination. A consolidated rank list is prepared on the basis of the marks so obtained by the applicants and admission is offered on the basis of inter-state merit at an admission counseling session. There is no element of capitation or donation for admission to SSET.
