Muthoot Institute of Technology and Science is one among the emerging self financing engineering colleges in Kerala, established in the year 2013 and is run by Muthoot Group which is the famous financial group in India. The college is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi (MG) University Kottayam and has the approval of ‘All India Council for Technical Education'(AICTE).

Mode of admission in MITS is strictly based on merit. 50% of the total seats offered by the college is based on the centralized allotment from MG University and the remaining 50% is on management and NRI quota. Eligibility criteria for the admission to the college is students should pass in All Kerala Entrance Examination conducted by the government of Kerala and also should pass in plus 2 or equivalent exam with 50% marks for the subjects such as physics, chemistry, mathematics and computer science.
