MG College of Engineering, Vandithadam

MG College of Engineering (MGCET), Thiruvananthapuram was established in 2004. The college is approved by AICTE, New Delhi and affiliated to CUSAT. It is under the management of IHRD (Institute of Human Resources Development), Kerala Government undertaking. Faculty of international repute belonging to various sciences and engineering streams is engaged in teaching, research and consultancy activities. College is an autonomous institute established by the Government of Kerala.

It has been accredited by NAAC at ‘A’ level in the first Phase. In the second phase of accreditation it retained the “A” level with a CGPA of 3.16. University Grants commission bestowed the college with the status of CPE (College with Potential for Excellence) and awarded an assistance of Rupees 1 crore for development of infrastructure and conduct of various programs in first phase. . The institution was selected for the award of three FIST (Fund for Improvement of S&T Infrastructure in Universities and Higher Educational Institutions) program of the DST (Department of Science and Technology, Government of India)

Eligibility

Eligibility of admission for Engineering Degree Program, The total number of seats in the College in each branch are filled in two ways. 50% of the seats are filled by Government from the rank list published by the Controller of Entrance Examinations (CEE) following the reservation rules. The balance 50% seats are filled by the Management again from the same rank list. The lapsed seats are ultimately filled by the Management following the eligibility conditions. General Category, The minimum qualification for admission to degree program in Engineering should be a pass in the 10+2 (Senior Higher Secondary) Examination with a minimum of – and an aggregate of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics put together. (50 percent marks in Mathematics separately). The candidate should have been ranked by the Commissioner of Entrance Examinations (CEE). OBC Category, the minimum qualification for admission to degree program in Engineering should be a pass in the 10+2 (Senior Higher Secondary) Examination with a minimum of – and an aggregate of 45 percent marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics put together. (45 percent marks in Mathematics separately). SC / ST Category The minimum qualification for admission to degree program in Engineering should be a pass in the 10+2 (Senior Higher Secondary) Examination. Lateral Entry to Degree Engineering Program A student who has acquired a 3 year diploma in Engineering through institutional study, after Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination (SSLC) can be considered for lateral entry in the second year (third semester level). Seats in addition to the sanctioned intake at first year level, limited to a maximum of 10% will be reserved for such students.
