Government Medical College, Kottayam is a prominent government medical college in Kerala, India. The college started functioning in December 1962 as the third government-run medical college in Kerala. The college which initially functioned in the District Hospital, Kottayam from 1962 to 1970 was shifted to Arpookara in April 1970.

Government Medical College Kottayam has been one of the largest and important medical colleges of India, ever since its inception. The college is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, and KUHS. The institute is also recognized by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and MCI. Medical College Kottayam is persistently in the course of action, by means of upgrading its facilities and services. Being a hundred percent subsidized institution, the college depends totally on government grants for its budgetary bearing. Over the passing years, the campus has expanded and it has now been developed into a little community with all the modern facilities that are required for the smooth conduct of the courses.
