Vimala College is a Roman Catholic college in Thrissur City of Kerala state, India. It was established in 1967 after bifurcating St. Mary’s College, Thrissur. The college is under the management of the Nirmala Province, Thrissur, of the Congregation of Mother Carmel in the Roman Catholic Church. The college is under the religious jurisdiction of the Syro-Malabar Catholic Archdiocese of Thrissur and is one of the leading educational institutions related to or run by church organizations . Vimala College was the only women’s college in Kerala which offered exclusively graduate and post-graduate programmes. Accredited at the national level with a Five Star status in 2001 by the NAAC, the institution has undergone two subsequent cycles of re-accreditation in 2008 and 2014 and presently holds the top grade A with a CGPA of 3.50 on a 4 point scale. The University Grants Commission (UGC) conferred autonomy in 2015 and identified her as a College with Potential for Excellence in 2016.
