Sanatana Dharma College is an Arts and Science college established in 1946 and affiliated to the University of Kerala. It is a premier higher education institution that has made a remarkable contribution to the cultural and intellectual climate of Alappuzha. The college is recognized by UGC under 2(f) and 12(B). The NAAC re-accredited the college in the 3rd cycle with A+ grade and CGPA of 3.53 during June 2017.
The college offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses as well as research facilities through approved research centres in different disciples. Among the twelve teaching departments Zoology, Botany, Chemistry, Commerce, Economics and Mathematics are research departments that offer Ph.D. programmes.
