National college is one of the leading self-financing Arts and Science colleges in the city is affiliated to the University of Kerala since 1995. It has been established by the Manarul Huda Trust, an organization committed to educational and philanthropic causes in India and abroad.

There is a Women’s Study Centre of University of Kerala, functioning in the college which aims at promoting social awareness among the girl students.
