The name Nangelil dates back to the legendary ancestral tradition of marma chikitsa in Kerala which created a new dimension in orthopaedic management incorporating modern diagnostic methods with a scientific approach. Considering the profound proficiency, Dr Vijayan Nangelil, the great visionary and founder of this institution has been selected as the revered Guru (Acharya) under the scheme of Rashtriya Vidya Peetom, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Govt. of India, New Delhi.
Nangelil Ayurveda Medical College was established by Nangelil Charitable trust in 2002. This college is a self financing institution started with the aim to impart authentic wisdom of Ayurveda and conducts Ayurveda Acharya (BAMS) 5½ years course envisaged and approved by the CCIM New Delhi The College was affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University for degree course from the academic year 2001-2002 and later in 2010 got affiliated to the Kerala University for Health Sciences. The first batch under KUHS was admitted in the academic year 2010-2011.
Admission Procedure:
Admission procedures are strictly as per the guidelines of the Govt. of Kerala stipulated time to time. Currently the admission capacity is 60 per year out of which 50% will be through entrance examinations conducted by the state. The rest 50% shall be treated as management and NRI quota seats. The candidates should have passed the qualifying examination with minimum of 50% marks.
