Mercy College, a premier institution imparting quality education was started in 1977 in Vatakara Town, Kozhikode (Dist). At its inception there were BA. History and Economics (Double Main), B. Com, MA. English and MA. History Courses. In 1984 BSc. Mathematics was also included. Other PG courses were introduced in the year 2000 at Vatakara and Calicut.
The first phase of expansion of Mercy College started in 1999 at Eranhipalam, Kozhikode (Dist.). By 2003, Mercy College expanded its functioning in Guruvayur and 3 different places in Calicut District, Cheruvannur, Perambra and Kallachi
