Govt. Nursing College, Alappuzha

Govt. College of Nursing, Alappuzha started functioning on 4th December, 2006. The College is currently affiliated to Kerala University of Health Sciences and approved by Indian Council of Nursing. Dr.Sreekumari. D was the first Principal of the College.

The first batch of 60 B.Sc. Nursing students were admitted on 23rd January, 2007. The College has 4 batches of B.Sc. Nursing Students and a batch of interns during an academic year. Post graduate program was started on 28th September, 2010 in 4 Specialties- Medical Surgical Nursing, Child Health Nursing, Obstetrics & Gynecology Nursing and Community Health Nursing .The total intake is 20 students ,with 5 seats in each specialty.

Govt. College of Nursing, Alappuzha, University of Kerala is attached to the T D Medical College, which provides facility for professional training to the students of Nursing. The college imparts academic and professional training to the students.

Eligibility


B.Sc. Nursing

Passing of Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination or Senior School Certificate Examination (10+2)

An equivalent with 12yr schooling from a recognised Board or University with science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology)and English

M.Sc. Nursing

The Candidate must have 80% attendance in each theory and practical with minimum 50% of internal marks in each subject .However they should attain 100% of attendance for practical before the award of Degree.

A candidate who fails in any subject shall be permitted to continue the studies into the 2nd year However, the candidate shall not be allowed to appear for the 2nd year examination till such time that she/he passes all subjects in the I year M.Sc. nursing.
