Government Engineering College, Thrissur, is one of the most prestigious institutions in Kerala. Started in 1957 offering fewer courses, GEC Thrissur has marched ahead and one of the most sought after technical education centre in Kerala. The institute is recognized by AICTE and Council of Architecture affiliated to University of Calicut.
In 2009, Live Mint (online news portal) rated GECT among the top 50 government engineering colleges in India. Further, the college was awarded ISO 9001:2008 certification from the Indian Registry of Quality Systems in 2012.
