Government College of Engineering, Kannur (GCEK) is located at Parassinikkadavu in Kannur district of Kerala was established in 1986. GCEK is a state-sponsored engineering college affiliated to Kannur University, Kerala & recognized AICTE, New Delhi. It was established as a centre for imparting quality Engineering education in northern Kerala. The long cherished ambition of North Kerala to have an institution of higher learning in technical education was fulfilled through the establishment of the Government College of Engineering. The college is affiliated to the Kannur University. The college offers B.Tech degree in five branches.
GCEK began in the Town High School, Kannur Campus. The college has an annual intake of 300 students (under five four-year graduate courses), on merit basis through the All Kerala Common Entrance Examination.
The institute has a placement cell which facilitates summer training, soft skills training, career guidance and placement assistance to the students.
