The college has started in the year 1995 as affiliated college under Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam. College has been honored the accreditation status of 2 (f) and 12 (b) status by University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi.
As the college is situated in a linguistic minority rural area it’s the only college under M.G. University which aims at providing strategic funding to eligible state higher educational institutions, on recommendations from Director of Collegiate Education, of Government of Kerala. It’s an Educational, Financially and Socially backward area.
