AWH Special College is a prestigious institution of higher learning founded by the Association for Welfare of the Handicapped (AWH) in the year 1996. The institute is affiliated to the University of Calicut & Kerala University of Health Sciences.It has recognition from Rehabilitation Council of India (RCI) and sanctioned by the Government of Kerala.
The college offers the both degree and postgraduate program in audiology and speech and language pathology. MASLP program was started in 2006.The four-semester full time post graduate dual PG program in Audiology and Speech Pathology with two years duration. The duration of each semester is six months. In recent years, there has been an increase in the global demand for audiologists due to the modernization of audiology, especially in the western and Middle East countries. This has resulted in a major drain of skilled audiologists to these countries and a shortage of qualified audiology and speech pathology professionals in India.
